Makes me wish I still worked in the engine machine shop. Of course, we didn't have one of these in the shop, but we had about 5 machines that collectively did the same thing these do.

DAAAAMN!
I've been doing some manual work on a bench lathe, knowing how much work it goes on making a single, simple piece this almost looks like cheating :P
CNC, man, CNC.

Yea I cut my teeth for quite awhile on manual machines. Trust me, that's where you want to start. No way to get a feel for feeds, speeds, cuts, etc if you hop right into CNC machining.
Of course, now that I know how to run the CNCs, especially with the lathe, I rarely go back to manual machines. I can make simple parts on the manual mill quickly enough without as much set up that I still use it often, but the quick codes CNC lathes offer now combined with equivalent set up times make turning parts by hand bothersome.

I recently picked up a 4 axis machine that I just came home from using. It's so hot. Man, I want to go back to the shop and play, but I am also a dad... so must spend time at home.
check it out- affordable, as these things go.

I couldn't agree more.

Very cool. I want one. I don't even have a need but I would make all kinds of stuff.

Interesting. I work at a CAM software company, in the post processor department. I don't see too many Centroids personally. Lots of Haas, Mori-Seiki, and Mazak machines mostly. Some Matsuura and Okuma too. Okumas are kind of nice because they are so picky about their G Code that I can give a customer a post that will work 99% even if they aren't entirely sure how to manually program it.

That's sweet. That's the one aspect of CNC work I haven't learned enough of. Most of the work I do is on Haas machines; VF3, Mini Mill, and an old TM1 primarily, as well as a TL1.
